TEA EXEMPLARY CAMPUS

Second graders and teachers recently met with local leaders of our community that provide public services to the citizens of Alice. While at City Hall, they met Mayor Rito Silva and Councilwoman Yvette Terrell Johnson.  Students conducted a question and answer session after presentations by the heads of different city departments.  Students were treated with cookies, punch, pencils, bookmarks, and water bottles.  A big thanks to the City of Alice!

Salazar School is proud to annouce three classrooms that have been awarded Reading Renaissance AR Model Classroom. Congratulations to Mr. Lucas, Mrs. Ramon, and Ms. Pena. Librarian Ms. Reyes was recognized for a Model Library and Mrs. Tiller as a Model Coordinator.

Congratulations to Elda Salazar for being chosen Salazar Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Salazar has taught at Salazar School for 18 years. Thank you for your dedication and service to our students and community.

Rule #30-After we eat, we will clean up after ourselves. This includes cleaning off the tables and making sure we haven't left any trash on the floor or around the eating area. It is important to be responsible for your trash no matter where you are and to be sure not to litter.

Rule #50-Be positive and enjoy life. Some things just aren't worth getting upset over. Keep everything in perspective and focus on the good in your life.

From the Principal

As Spring Break approaches, Salazar roadrunners are very active keeping up with Spelling Bee, District Science Fair, Destination Imagination, Lone Star, Chess, and TAKS testing.  Although, spring semester brings a busy schedule, our students have kept up the momentum.   As I visit classrooms daily, I see the motivation our teachers have to ensure student success and to maintain Salazar’s status as a high performing school.  Thanks to all our parents who attended mid year conferences and I ask that you continue to stay in close contact with your child’s teacher and that you assist us in making sure your child attends school daily.  Here at Salazar we feel that two-way communication between home and school is vital!

Keep shining that Roadrunner Pride!
